If you want to install air conditioning so that your flat in a panel building doesn't feel like an oven in August, no one will give you anything for it. The state does not subsidise cooling and does not care that you live on the top floor under the roof.
A different matter arises when the wall-mounted unit also provides heating and replaces your old boiler or direct electric heaters. It is then officially termed an air-to-air heat pump, and suddenly money becomes involved. The difference lies not in what hangs on the wall, but in its intended function.
When does a subsidy for air conditioning apply and when does it not?
There is no subsidy for air conditioning designed solely for cooling. Subsidies are available for air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating.
Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. - otherwise, the subsidy will not arise even if all other conditions are met.

Who will achieve this in Ostrava
The boiler subsidies that half of Ostrava keeps asking about ended in 2024 and the region has not issued any new ones. So cross them off your list and forget about them; otherwise, you will be waiting until Judgement Day.
The nationwide Zelená úsporám programme remains in force. Direct cash payments are available to low-income households living in detached houses, pensioners, people with third-degree disabilities and those receiving benefits. Anyone living in a panel building in Poruba is out of luck, regardless of income. Others can take out an interest-free loan where the state covers the interest.
What we provide with the application
- certificate of authorisation for handling regulated substances (F-gases)
- technical parameters of the installed unit including the heating factor
- documents confirming installation and commissioning
The grant provider alone decides on the award of the subsidy. We do not guarantee its approval; we assist with technical documentation and proof of installation.
Frequently asked questions about subsidies
I live in a concrete apartment block: am I eligible for anything?
No. Direct subsidies are available to owners of detached houses. For an apartment, you pay the full cost for the air conditioning; we will simply tell you the price upfront and without any extras.
And will those boiler grants return?
As of August 2026, the region has not issued a new call. If it does, we will add it here. Do not get your hopes up in advance.
Will I receive a subsidy for an air conditioner that only cools?
No. There is no subsidy for an air conditioner designed solely for cooling. Subsidies apply to air-to-air heat pumps, i.e., air conditioners with a heating function used for space heating. If you are purchasing the unit purely for summer cooling, it does not qualify for subsidy programmes.
Must installation be carried out by a company with F-gas certification?
Installation must be carried out by a company authorised to handle regulated substances (F-gases) in accordance with Act No. 73/2012 Coll. - otherwise, the subsidy will not arise even if all other conditions are met.
Do you guarantee that I will receive the subsidy?
The grant provider alone decides on the award of the subsidy. We do not guarantee its approval; we assist with technical documentation and proof of installation.

Do not know if you are entitled to it?
Call and tell us what type of property you live in and how you heat it. We will tell you straight out whether it is worth pursuing the application or if it is a waste of time, and what the installation will cost regardless.
